Scam-tastic Redux

There are reports surfacing that some SMART cellphone subscribers are receiving text messages that says:

"CONGRATS!! You win "500" load from smart, !Just Type 09183876192 and send four times to 808 you claim "500" load now thank u! SMART ZED! 1515# DTI# 3542".

This is yet another cellphone scam. If a clueless SMART subscriber is gullible enough to follow the instructions on the SMS, they will send four (4) ten peso (Php10) load to the number that sent the message. The amount sent (Php40) will be deducted from the prepaid load of the one being scammed. If the replying cellphone is from a regular subscriber, an additional fourty pesos will be added to the monthly bill. I'm a Globe subscriber so I'm pretty confident that I won't be receiving this scam SMS at all.

If a reader of this blog *does* receive such message or anything similar, report it immediately to the National Telecommunications Commission as soon as you can so that low lives such as the ones sending these scams can be somehow apprehended.
