MacBook Pro MagSafe Connector Problem: Why its not good to to be an early adopter

MacBook Magnetic MagSafe Connector Not So Safe After All - Gizmodo

This is a classic example of why I usually shy away from getting a gadget when it is first introduced. There are people out there who often rush out to get the "latest and greatest" tech available and they are the ones to get to pay the so-called "Early Adopters' Tax" -- the additional expense that comes with getting a new gadget as it comes out. Most of the time, the early adopter pays a higher price for their gadget, actually a small price to pay to be among the first ones to get to play with new technology. However, sometimes apart from the higher price tags, they are also the ones who get stuck with buggy/defective hardware.

As for me, after years of being an avid gadget addict, I've learned my lessons. I almost always get a "new" gadget after a few months of its release. That way, all defects would have been isolated and hopefully fixed and by that time, the cost of the gadget that I'm getting would've gone down a bit.
