UMPC/Project Origami: Is This It?
Origami runs on Intel and Samsung hardware? - Engadget
Engadget ran an item regarding how Microsoft's "Project Origami" and Intel's UMPC initiative would finally look like: an ultra-ultraportable tabletPC running Windows XP Tablet Edition (what else?). I'm somewhat disappointed in this because I was thinking of something more... earthshaking than a Windows-powered device.
Anyway, a friend of mine sort of test drove a tablet pc (running XP Tablet Edition) for one year at school and according to him, the experience is quite pleasant. His "pleasant" experience, however, did not come without a price: He scanned all his textbooks and uploaded it to this tabletpc -- not an easy thing to do. But once he has everything loaded -- it must have been pure bliss! Imagine going to school to with a TabletPC and nothing else... no large books, no notebooks, no scratch papers. Everything a student needs all packed up in a rather small-ish package (my friend had one of those 12-inch tablets). But imagine the same scenario but this time with a smaller tabletpc? Now wouldn't that be sweet? (sweet enough to make me wish I'm back at school).
