Security Alert: First StarOffice Virus Found!
Kaspersky Lab, maker of the Kaspersky Antiviru, has reported that the first virus affecting Sun Microsystems' StarOffice suite has been discovered. The virus, dubbed as "Stardust", is a proof-of-concept virus that is basically similar to the macro virus that has been plagueing MS Office documents. The proof of concept virus also spreads in a similar manner -- once an infected StarOffice file is opened, the macro runs attaches itself to all StarOffice text document (with .swx extension) and StarOffice document templates (files with .stw extension).
The current version of "Stardust", once activated, will open an adult image hosted on a tripod.com server.
