Pinoy Podcast: A Quick Critique
Yesterday, a number of local podcasts were simultaneously launched at an event at the Red Box in Greenbelt 3, Makati. These podcasts are currently hosted at http://www.microwarehouse.com.ph/podcast.xml. Just add the XML link on your iTunes and you'll get the podcasts automatically each time you get connected to the 'net.
Anyway, I've listened to some of the podcasts on my way home and here are my initial thoughts on some of them:
Dial Direk -- This podcast answers quasi-phone calls asking Freddie Santos questions. The snappy, barbed and edgy answers Mr. Freddie Santos gives his "callers" are quite amusing. I'll be a regular subscriber of this podcast and I hope he gets to sustain his momentum since there's already four episodes as of the launch date.
M|PH Podcast -- What does the editors of the largest mobile technology lifestyle magazine talk about when they are not busy correcting the grammar and spelling of articles submitted to them? They simply chill and talk about the things that interests them: mobile gadgets!
Kahapon Lamang -- I have to admit that I never caught Mr. Eddie Ilarde's radio show but when I let my mom listen to this, even I felt her reminiscing and I had to answer a lot of questions about podcasting and the internet.
Manual -- While listening to this podcast, I feel as if I'm in a classroom with a not-so-interesting teacher. Although the material is supposed to be exciting, I simply felt the need to push the "next" button of my iPod. (Sorry Mr. RJ Ledesma... you'll need to spice up the way you deliver your piece next time).
Twisted -- I have to say that this is one of the local podcasts I've been looking forward to since Ms. Jessica Zafra announced it at her *real* blogsite. I was somewhat disappointed when I heard this since Jessica Zafra didn't have anyone else in the podcast. However, her way with words shone and she proved that she doesn't need anyone to trade wits with in order to be interesting -- though it would have been more interesting if she has someone with her to serve as a counterpoint to her wit and wisdom.
T3 Podcast -- Just like the m|ph podcast, the editors of T3 magazine talks tech gadgets but they seem to have gone through a lot of them in this episode, thus somewhat lacking focus.
PhilMUG -- Hosted by Elbert Cuenca and Adel Gabot, this is one of the better produced podcast on the lot given the fact that I personally know that this was done on one of the premiere sound studios in the country. This is a rather technical podcast that is geared towards the local Apple user and it seems to have done what its supposed to do. If offers tips and tricks each Mac user should know and it also directs them to internet sites that will prove useful to them.
I have yet to listen to the other podcasts but I have to admit that some of them are not that interesting for me but I'll try my best to do additional critique on them on later posts.
