Happy 20th Anniversary (c)Brain!
It came and gone quietly but last January 19th was the 20th anniversary of the appearance of the (in)famous (c)Brain Virus! I remember being perplexed at why my 5 1/4 inch diskettes wouldn't get this newfangled "virus" whenever I use one of those rented computers (20 pesos for an hour if I remember it correctly) and was doubly dissapointed when my diskette was instead infected by the "Italian Bouncing Ball". Uh, oh... I think I'm showing my age here...
Anyway, back in those days of DOS, WordStar and Lotus 1-2-3, the primary way of getting a computer virus was by swapping programs through floppy diskettes or by using public computers (mostly rented) without booting it up with a clean DOS diskette. Those were also the days when PCTools was king!
Anyway, to complete the reminiscing, click on the graphic above to see how (c)Brain looked like in its HEX form.
Enjoy!
