Undercover: A $29.99 Peace of Mind

I stumbled upon this website that sells an impressive software that "phones home" should the laptop where it is installed is stolen/lost and is used by the thief/finder. The program called "Undercover" will transmit its whereabouts to its owner and even send screenshots from the stolen/lost laptop -- this should help the real owner to track down the missing machine.

According to its website, Undercover will also simulate a gradual hardware failure that will virtually force the thief/finder to bring the stolen/lost laptop to an authorized reseller/service center. At this point, Undercover will a screen that will alert the reseller/service center that the computer is stolen/lost.

Unfortunately, this program is Mac only. :)
