gPhone: Google Introduces Android

Engadget reports that Google has finally announced, not the much hyped gPhone but a Google phone operating system dubbed as "Android". As expected, Android will work well with Google services and the new Open Handset Alliance made up of (obviously Google and a few handset manufacturers) are expected to release Android-based phones in the very near future.

Will this pose a serious threat to Windows Mobile and the iPhone? And yes, this is definitely another nail in the coffin of Palm (as a mobile phone OS).
