More Free Stuff from Microsoft!

A couple of posts ago, I mentioned how the "evil empire" had started giving away free or rather "Express" versions of their Visual Studio and MS SQL Server 2005 for newbie developers. These applications costs up to a couple of thousand pesos if bought legally (nope, if your software are bought from the tiangges of Greenhills, its not considered "legal" even if you overpaid for them).

Just this morning, I saw a news item about how the "evil empire" has bought a company called "ByteTaxi, Inc." and offered their service on the 'net for *free*. The product: its FolderShare and this is supposed to allow users to share files from within their computers. People with multiple computers (like, *ehem* me), can also take advantage of this my "sharing" my files to myself across different computers. The even better news? Its client software has support for Mac machines!

I'd love to test drive this but my main laptop is in a coma at the moment and I'm waiting for a friend to deliver a new power brick for it so I can resuscitate it. I can't connect to FolderShare from my office because my firewall doesn't allow it to pass through so I'll need to be mobile and try this out on a wi-fi hotspot nearby.
