"Open Heart" Surgery!
Last Thursday, the power adaptor of my Apple iBook (Dual USB chiclet) died after languishing for around two weeks. It all started when my kid (see my avatar) tripped on the adaptor's cord two weekends ago. That sort of pulled the cable from the plug that attaches to the computer. It continued to somewhat work but it has to be at a certain position in order to charge the battery. Then last Thursday, it simply stopped supplying juice to my notebook.
Good thing I have a "backup laptop", an Apple iBook (Tangerine Clamshell). Its not a very powerful machine but it should tide me over until I get a replacement for the broken adaptor. A friend will be coming over for a business trip on the last week of November and I was able to get him to buy me a replacement power adaptor from Amazon.com. The replacement will not be an original Apple power adaptor but will instead be Macally-branded.
Now, in order for me to use the Clamshell iBook at my office, I had to perform "open heart" surgery on both my iBooks. I had to transfer the wi-fi card from the chiclet to the clamshell. Athough the operation was quite simple, this will be the first time that I will be opening up both laptops. Now my clamshell is wi-fi enabled and I can use it on the office, though I don't think I can be "mobile" with it since its battery is dead.
