INQ7.Net Reports: ATM Downed by Massive Traffic
There's a news report that one bank's ATM (Automated Teller Machine) network was bogged down by "massive" traffic of withdrawals and account inquiries. This "massive traffic" due to GSIS' release of annual dividents amounting to 1.02 billion pesos.
Nope, I will not lash out at the depository bank for not being able to support the transactions generated by the released funds. But I will question the wisdom of GSIS for choosing this bank without considering its ability to service its clients. I'm pretty sure that such network demands will not faze any of the big three banks in the country (I can say that with authority since I work with one of them and know a lot of fellow geeks who work in the other two) and any of these three banks have more facilities to service the clients in-house with less dependence on the two ATM networks (Megalink and Bancnet).
...so *that* was why I was not able to withdraw money at my ATM account last weekend...
