Bad Virus Pattern Deletes Windows Files

McAfee 'bad pattern' update causes file deletion problems - INQ7.net

Another one for "I'm glad I'm a Mac User" department. There had been reports where a "bad" virus pattern has made McAfee anti-virus to delete innocent files from Windows as it was mistakenly tagged as being infected with the W95/CTX virus. Its good if the anti-virus is configured to merely "quarantine" infected files but if it has been configured to automatically delete infected files, then the Windows installation is screwed. By the way, the bad virus pattern update was the 4715 DAT file.

Whoah! This is serious, thank heavens I never used McAfee even once, and also, now I'm thankful for switching to Ubuntu, hehehehe
