I wish they would offer the discount to non-members as well; some might switch to MAC.

I used MAC before PC and loved it, but switched to PC due to more software support; MAC was alienating itself from the public by giving off the impression of being too elitist.

Perhaps, next year, I'll get a MAC powerbook (I just got my HP). I'll keep an eye out for the discount.

Well, that's one of the advantages of belonging to either (or both) communities. :)

If you intend to get a new notebook next year, watch out for the upcoming Intel-based Macs. Early evalutions says that OSX is a *lot* faster under Pentium. Also, there should be a glut of PowerPC-based Macs that will be sold at a much lower price. No worries on application support since most of the applications should run on both platform for at least two years (educated guess here) starting from the introduction of those "MacTels".

In my experience, LMK's prices had been among the lowest for iBooks, even outside of the Christmas sale (perhaps because they're a distributor, and not simply a dealer).

But I agree with you, Bernie, that the intel-based Macs would be worth waiting for, being faster, cooler, and with longer battery life. You get a better deal with either a faster machine or a price drop on the PowerPC-based machines.

Cheers.
