Goodbye Telegrams!

America's largest telegram company has quietly ceased its telegram delivery service effective January 27, 2006. Western Union has quietly stopped sending telegrams after 145 years in the business. They are now concentrating on their money transfer business and any reference to the telegram service is already out of their website.

On the local front, the PT website also seems to be quietly phasing out their telegram business. Although their website still acknowledges their telegram business and its derivatives (such as the Regalogram, Socialgram, FAXgram and singinggram), they are clearly pushing their voice and data service.
