Online Office Suite Not Too Far Off
Weeks ago, I gushed about how great this online word processor, Writely, was and I still hold on to the opinion that Writely *is* a very good online word processor. Now here’s another AJAX/Web 2.0 site that will help change the computing paradigm in the next couple of years. Introducing iRows: a web-based online spreadsheet. I think its still in its early stages but, iRows is pretty impressive as it is. It is capable of doing rather complex calculations and just like Writely, iRows spreadsheets can be shared to the world and they can be collaboratively edited by people that the owner allows.
Now we have two ingredients that can make an online office suite. As I’ve written in a previous post, we are indeed living in exciting times. It won’t be long now when people will see and use computers the way we look at CD players and other small appliances because all that would matter is if these future computers are able to see and run sites such as Writely and iRows.
Note: I hope the graphics I inserted gets through to blogger and not filtered out by my mail server – I’m still posting this using MS Outlook 2003 because the computer I’m using to do my blog posting is unavailable at the moment – I’m still playing around with my *old* clamshell iBook 300 where I installed Ubuntu Linux (“Breezy”).
