The latest patent application of Apple for a "touch screen control interface" led me to an entirely different path from the conventional tech pundits. Instead of speculating on what hardware Apple is developing, I think what they are actually perfecting is some sort of an OS X lite -- a less bloated version of Apple's flagship OS that can be adapted to run on *any* portable device (be it a tablet PC, a new generation Newton, an Apple SmartPhone or a touch-screen iPod video).
Judging from the picture posted at Engadget, the screen shows a "flavor" of OS X and although it is monochromatic, it still looks great!
