DialIdol.com: A Trojan in Disguise?

DialIdol.com - Speed dial your favorite American Idol to the next round.

At first look, this site offers fans of the immensely popular reality show American Idol a chance to boost the chances of their bets in the show by automating the process of voting through AI's 1-888 toll-free number. If I'm a U.S. resident, I would have used it to vote of for ****** *****. Reading the FAQ of the site more closely, this dialer requires *both* a modem connection (to do the actual dialing) and a separate internet connection. I got curious until I got to the point where the question went "How do I enter the Idol phone numbers?"; and the answer goes "You don't -- I do. We all dial the same phone numbers -- why do we have to enter that information?" Hmmmm... does anyone else smells something fishy with that?

What will prevent the developer from dialing a phone-a-sex number using your line? Why would you even allow someone else to take control of your phone line in the first place? All I can say to my readers who happen to be in the U.S. -- BEWARE!

I purposely masked the name of my own bet because it would be a bit embarrasing to see him/her eliminated... :)
